Found It! Longstreet

A while ago I came across a series called Longstreet in a book I was reading about a blind detective from the 1970s. It isn't available on DVD but I've found some clips from an episode on Youtube.

It is an episode called "The Way of the Intercepting Fist" which stars Bruce Lee, hence its popularity on the web. Here is an extract. The whole of this episode is online but broken up into YouTube sized chunks, but I will watch it all at some point soon.

Interesting discovery, I've never heard of this series. Good episode title too!

I like both of these opening sequences, there's something about 60s/70s detective shows, the graphics, music, clothes, decor, everything that makes them so much more than 'just' a detective show. They're obviously so of their time, it gives it added retro-design appeal I suppose, for me. They do it in a more authentic way than carefully styled newer series like Marple or Poirot. They're both lovely to watch for the scenes and clothes etc, and done with a great attention to detail, but I always feel there's something lacking that you'd get from a show actually made in that period. You know the difference between 50s films and a remake, or 70s cop shows like Life on Mars and originals - maybe it's the modern sense of irony or knowledge of how it fits into our cultural past or something. There always seem to be little details that make originals more interesting even if the storyline's not great or the technology's clunky or the colours are strange. Anyway, I'm woffling now, but good videos!

Sorry I thought I'd replied to this ages ago - I certainly meant to!

I love the period detail in these shows too. I watch a lot of the original Randal and Hopkirk Deceased mainly to see the clothes and interiors. But any modern show that tries to do any earlier period just goes overboard with it or goes for the most obvious references.

I noticed that The Streets of San Francisco which I used to watch as a child has now come out on DVD too so I'm intrigued to see what is like.
